If you’re lucky enough to have a room in your house solely dedicated to the purpose of having guests, here’s a post for you! Many times, the guest room is a neglected room in the house that becomes a dumping ground since it may be used rarely. However, you definitely want to make your guests feel as comfortable as possible while they stay by you. Read on for some simple ways to elevate your guest room and make your guests feel right at home.

1. Add Mini Toiletries

My absolute favorite thing to elevate a guest room is to add mini toiletries. This really makes your guests feel the hotel vibes while also making sure they have what they need. I try to keep my guest room stocked with mini mouthwash, shampoo, body wash, and toothpaste. Other ideas include travel size Tums, band aids, toothbrushes, Q-tips, deodorant and makeup remover. Make sure the bathroom is well stocked with easy to find toilet paper and tissues.

2. Towels

Make sure your guests have nice fluffy towels in a place that is easily accessible and they can find them without having to ask you. Here are some that are super fluffy and feel very high-end.

3. Window Treatments

Make sure the window treatments in the room are adequate to prevent your guests from being woken up in the morning. I recently realized that the blinds I have up in my guest room were really wimpy and not good at blocking light. It’s not something your guests are likely to tell you so test it out! 4. Add a Wastebasket

Something that may be overlooked in a guest room is a wastebasket. Your guest needs somewhere to put their trash and they shouldn’t have to go all the way to the kitchen to do that! Here is a wastebasket that will fit with most decor styles and is affordable.

5. Storage Space

Make sure there is an abundance of storage space for your guests. Resist the urge to fill all the drawers with your out of season clothes. You don’t want them to not have any room for their things. Either clear some closet space for them, have furniture with drawers for them to unpack into, or provide a suitcase stand like this one.

6. Clear Space

Get rid of any clutter that may be in your guest room. Anything that wouldn’t be in a hotel shouldn’t be in your guest room either.

7. Essentials

Don’t forget to add a pack n’ play for your guests that have little ones. Also, a clock is super important. And don’t forget a shaitel head, a full length mirror and a lamp. All of these small touches will make your guests feel truly welcome!

Don’t forget to have fun when decorating your guest room! Sometimes, it’s easier to make a bold choice when you don’t see it every day. Enjoy making your guest room a haven for friends and family!
