This home presented a classic case of untapped potential. It felt a little dated and lacked a sense of personality. While the existing design had potential, it lacked the warmth and vibrancy that would truly make it a welcoming home. We wanted to infuse the space with life and create a warm, welcoming environment for the family. Through a carefully curated selection of fresh paint colors, refinishing the wood floors, and the strategic placement of stylish and functional light fixtures, we were able to completely transform this home. This before-and-after will demonstrate the power of these key design elements to elevate a space and create a truly remarkable transformation.

The Design Process
We kicked off the design process by chatting with the homeowners. This helped me understand how they live, what they like, and their dream for the space. We looked at the current layout and spotted some spots we could make even better. Although the home had excellent structural elements, the worn floors and outdated finishes presented a clear opportunity for a significant transformation. Then, we put together a full design plan. It included a fresh set of colors, new light fixtures, and wood floor color ideas.
For this project, we picked a calm, neutral color scheme. This was to make the whole home feel connected and smooth. We went with a light beige for most of the walls. It gives a clean and bright background for everything else. To make things interesting, we added little pops of color in important spots. Think a gentle tan in the main bedroom and some pink stripes in the girl’s room.
Picking paint colors might seem easy, but it can actually get tricky! For each room, we narrowed it down to three possible shades. Then, we ordered Samplize samples. We put them right on the walls to see how they looked in different lights throughout the day.

Selecting the right floor color was a crucial decision that would significantly impact the overall feel of the home. To ensure we made the best choice, we had the floor scraped and had samples applied of different wood tones to the exposed surface. This gave us a realistic preview of how each color would appear in the varying light conditions of the space.

Ultimately, we chose a warm, honey-toned wood. It added a touch of warmth and character to the space while still maintaining a sense of brightness and airiness.
