Your laundry room is one of the most hardworking and also, forgotten spaces-style wise-in your home. Most laundry rooms I see are just boring. But why?? You spend lots (sometimes feels like too much) time in this room. It should be a space that you like being in (well, at least in terms of style. Sadly, I can’t help you with the chore part of it.) Here are my best tips to update your laundry room easily and cheaply.
1. Add a Speaker
A speaker in a laundry room is unexpected but is always a good idea! Listening to something while you’re doing a chore makes it seem less chore-like. Am I right? I’m always listening to a podcast or a good song while doing my laundry. Having a speaker makes it easy and you can find them for so cheap. I personally like the Echo Dot since you don’t have to stop your laundry doing to change the song. Just tell it to skip and it will.
2. Add a personalized sign
Having a cute sign that makes you smile can really make the chore at hand less daunting. You can buy something like this. Your laundry room is one of the rooms in your home you probably spend lots of time in. Let’s make it a room you love to be in (style wise at the very least!)
3. Replace Your Cabinet Pulls
This is one of my favorite hacks to update your kitchen, bathroom or laundry room. Adding a new pull can really elevate the space in no time. For my favorite pulls and knobs, click here. I’m really loving brass cabinet hardware, like the knobs below.
4. Add lighting
Adding a new light fixture to a space will always make it feel so much more stylish as well as brighter and more functional. Since it’s your laundry room, make it something funky that you wouldn’t be able to do in other areas of your home. See the cool light in the picture below? Perfect!
Additionally, if your laundry room has cabinets, adding under cabinet puck lights like these can help brighten up the space and make it more functional. Now you’ll actually be able to see those stains so you can really attack them. Win!
5. Add Peel and Stick wallpaper or a Funky Wall Color
The laundry room is the perfect place to add some wallpaper or a paint color you would never do in any other space. Some of my favorite funky paint colors (all by Benjamin Moore) are Emerald Isle, Van Deusen Blue, Cranberry Cocktail and Ansonia Peach. Painting these colors in a small space like a laundry room will have a big impact and keep you feeling cheery (despite the tough job at hand.) For a free paint color guide, click here. Another option is to add a peel and stick back splash.
6. Keep it Organized
Make sure you keep the clutter at bay and that everything has a place. Hang up hooks or a drying rack so you have a place for hanging things. Another thing I love for small laundry rooms are collapsible laundry baskets like these. This way, when they’re not in use, you can stow them somewhere out of the way.
So there you have it folks! I can’t help with your laundry but I can help you transform your laundry room from blah to pretty amazing. Enjoy your new space!

I love an organized, tidy laundry room. I’ll have to try out the speaker idea! Thanks for sharing 🙂
